A 5-week-course, with meditation and dance, to explore how to not feed the roots of conflict, in ourselves and the wider world
There is a lot of conflict in the world at present - and again and again we are presented with lines of division, between the 'good' and the 'bad' - we are being asked to take sides. This seems to make the world knowable - seems to offer orientation when we feel helpless.
Are we really contributing to more peace through that kind of 'knowing'? I know who I am, this place I live in, the work I do - all of those is familiar, safe. And I think I know you too: I know just how you are, and assume I know what you think and do. Maybe you are 'my kind' of a person - or maybe you are 'one of them'.
Do we really know? What is there when we do not just rely on those assumptions... something fresh, and ....bigger maybe? Is it safe?
The Four Brahma Viharas, the Abodes of the Gods is a teaching from the Buddhist tradition, that might let us see beyond:
May all sentient beings have happiness and the cause of happiness! May they be free of suffering and the cause of suffering! May they never be separated from happiness free of suffering! May they abide in equanimity free of both desire for friends and relatives and aversion towards enemies and strangers.
We can use these four aspirations to investigate how we might open to the world as it actually presents itself, as fresh and unknown. And with that find and feed roots of peace rather than strife.
We can experience that it is safe to be in the unknown - possibly it can be a challenge for our wish to predict ... but honestly, who wants to live a life based on assumptions?
In this five-week course we will explore different ways to experience the body as a source of direct knowing, teaching us to be present, here & now, grounded, and deeper than any stories our mind might offer. And as a part of this living Earth.
We will engage in movement, meditation and some interactive talking exploration of the themes, bringing us together across distance and letting us arrive more fully here, in our home, where we are. And discover how fresh this can be.
There also will be the opportunity and support to incorporate the practice into our daily lives in between sessions.
Please register ahead for this course here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the online meetings.
This course is open to all, and does not need previous experience in movement or meditation. The fee is on a sliding scale of between £100 - 150. If you are able to contribute more, you will help someone else take part, who is unable to do so. Please contact me, if it is not possible for you to give that, as further reductions are possible.
If you have any other questions, please write to me here - I will be in touch.
I look forward to exploring more in your company!
